The second edition of the I-Rep International film festival runs from March 22nd – 25th at Terra Kulture and Freedom Park Broad street, Lagos, with the theme “Democracy and Culture: The Documentary Film Intervention”. The scope of the festival will cover areas such as democracy and demonstrations, new media tech and participatory democracy, potentials of the Nigerian films to explore and exploit the documentary format in its production virtues.
There will be screenings/discussions at the Terra venue from 10am to 5pm and screenings from 7pm to 11pm at the Freedom Park’s outdoor theatre.
“Is Nollywood documentary?”, has been set as the sub- theme, which unveils a hot conversation amongst filmmakers and the public on the potentials of Nollywood films to embrace the documentary ethics in its operation and outputs. Speakers experienced in Media and Filmmaking are powerfully taking part in the ongoing documentary film festival.
Veteran professionals will be inducted into the iREP/West Africa Documentary Film Forum’s Hall of Fame. Facilitators for the training workshop are Barbel Mauch from Germany who is a veteran documentarist and TV manager, Alhaji Adegboyega Arulogun ( TV documentarist), Cyril Okonkwo (filmmaker and diplomat), Amb. Yussuf Mamman (film/photo documentarist), Tam Fiofori and festival Executive Director, Femi Odugbemi.
