Expectations were high following the widely publicized movie award, a break away from the usual norm. It was the maiden edition of the Yoruba Movie Academy Awards which held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun state. The governor played host to Tunde Oshinibosi’s (aka Laface)vision of honoring filmmakers in the movie industry using the indigenous language (Yoruba) as a means of communication. The awardees no doubt earned the awards presented to them. Below is a list of the nominees and winners:

Wao, this is an awesome initiative, we pray that it grows and takes its pride of place in Africa and the world. Kudos to Ogun State Goverment, hopefully the Government will be responsible enough to know where its limits lie on projects like this. Bravo to all who concieved and contrived to bring the fab concept to life!
