Kene Mkparu, MD and Founder of Filmhouse has unveiled plans to open four cinema houses in Nigeria located in Surulere (Lagos), Ibadan, Asaba and Calabar. Presently, Silver bird Cinemas, Genesis Deluxe, Ozone and City Mall are the functional cinemas, in a country of over 150 million people!.
According to Kene, Film House through the multiplicity effect, will see the establishment of 25 cinemas over a six year time frame. Film house’s ability to power such a mega project was courtesy of the ‘controversial’ $ 200 million intervention fund promised by the president during his campaign last year. The cinemas will operate with world class facilities.
Its Calabar branch, ‘The Marina Resort Cinema’ is a filmhouse cinema established in partnership with the Cross River State Tourism Bureau, the first of its kind in Calabar (The People’s Paradise) with a stunning sea view. From digital 3D, luxury seating, to Icecream cafe, soul food brands and much more, Film house is poised to take over the cinematic market in Nigeria.
Having garnered so much knowledge and experience with his team while working at Odeon Cinemas in the UK… We might not be wrong in saying ‘there’s change in the air….or what do you think?
