Mr Akin Bello emerged as the winner of the Wole Soyinka Prize for literature in Africa 2014 at the grand finale held at the Civic Centre Victoria- Island, Lagos, couple of days ago. Former Chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Akin Bello, beat Othuke Ominibohs and Toyin Abiodun, to clinch the competition’s fifth edition monetary prize of $20,000.
The winner prior to this victory, has three novels, a poetry collection, and a play titled ‘Egbon of Lagos’ in his literary kitty. The event was graced by literary pundits with this year’s Prize being dedicated to the drama genre.
