Patrick Modiano is the 11th french man to win the Nobel prize for literature and according to the Swedish Academy he clinched same “for the art of memory with which he has evoked the most ungraspable human destinies and unlocked the life-world of the occupation”.
Modiano will receive a $1.1 million prize for this achievement. Most of his works are in french with no fewer than half of his works translated into English. Although many have argued that he’s not well known like his fellow contenders; Ngugi Wa Thiong’o, Haruki Murakami, Philip Roth but he has been profiled by FranceToday, The Jewish Daily Forward, and London Review of Books.
Congrats to the French man.. Naija when will our turn come again after Prof Wole Soyinka?…2050?
