Let’s go back to the history books of Naija, do you remember the town of “Oloibiri”?… yes the town where crude oil was first discovered in Nigeria…well there’s a movie centered around this historic town. Fast forward… it’s over twenty years after the last drop of crude oil was drilled in Oloibiri and two sons of the soil, Timipre and Gunpowder, are unhappy with the exploitation of their resources by the oil companies.
Timipre expresses his resentment via lamentations, while the younger, Gunpowder, tows the violent path. The action thriller directed by American film director, Curtis Graham stars Olu Jacobs, Richard Mofe-Damijo, William R. Moses (CSI, Touched by an Angel), Taiwo Ajai-Lycett , Ivie Okujaye, and Ifeanyi Williams.
Oloibiri will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival on the 19th, 21st and 22nd of May, 2015.
